Monday Matinee’s for January: All movies begin at 1pm
January 7: Our Souls at Night: Addie and Louis live in the same neighborhood in Holt, Colorado. Both are widowers and have been for a number of years. They each have one child, both living far away. The two have lived near one another for years and known one another the way anyone living in a small community knows someone they don’t interact with. One day, unexpectedly, Addie pays a visit to Louis for no other reason than she is lonely and thinks he may be lonely, too. The two connect with each other, and consider making the most of the rest of their lives by living them together.
January 14: A Simple Favor: Stephanie is a vlogger and mother living in a quaint town who is seeking to find the truth about the sudden and puzzling disappearance of her friend Emily. When Stephanie and Emily’s husband team up to find her, their journey soon reveals disturbing secrets. They quickly come to realize Emily isn’t the put-together person she portrays to the world, and she could be concealing a dark side that changes the game.
January 21: The Old Man and the Gun: At age 70, Forrest Tucker infamously made his escape from the tough San Quentin prison. Once he had gained his freedom, he embarked on a new set of heists that left investigators scratching their heads and the public fascinated by the story. This true story details Tucker’s life which includes a detective wrapped up in the case, and a female who takes a liking to Tucker despite the criminal path he’s on.
January 28: First Man: A first-person account through the eyes of Neil Armstrong recounts the history-changing years before the Apollo 11 mission. Neil’s character takes us back to 1961, and recalls what it was like to be the first man on the moon. Retelling the most dangerous mission America had ever done, Neil brings to life his personal sacrifices, and the sacrifices of the country. Neil leads us from the very beginning, all the way up to July 20, 1969, when he took one giant leap for mankind.
