We are excited that our children are back in the classroom in person this fall. For the first four to six weeks of school, our trustees have maintained the age of unattended children at 12. This means we will not be able to have Killington Elementary Students get off the bus here as school starts. We do this because the library is full open and masks are recommended, not mandated. This means that we would have a mix of people in with and without masks that could leave our youngest patrons who have not been able to get a vaccine vulnerable. We will watch the situation closely and when the science dictates that we can return to our regular afterschool programs safely, we will and we will let you know when that happens. We do have a few virtual offerings in store for October and November and are planning a really cool new Halloween tradition. So stay tuned!
In person story time will continue on Fridays at 10:30 am. We will do our best to social distance and anyone above the age of 2 should wear a mask. Kate will be telling stories and doing crafts each week and we’d love to see you.
The Great Vermont Dragon Egg Hunt
The Fairy Tale Festival will be back next year, but in the meantime we are hosting “The Great Vermont Dragon Egg Hunt” which starts on Monday, September 13th. Each day that week, we will release a clue or two to where the egg is hidden. Put the clues together, find the egg, and bring it to the library for your very own Folkmanis Dragon Puppet. You can even keep the egg! Over 100 public libraries across the state are participating, each in their own town. Can you solve the puzzle? Figure out the clues? Find the egg? Open to families and all ages!
Killington's Annual .5K Dash for Donuts
The Vermont Fairy Tale Festival is free and open to everyone. Our next big festival is scheduled for the third Saturday in September of 2022. In order to be able to bring you a free event, we need to fundraise. One of our favorite fundraisers is back this fall: The .5K Dash for Donuts! Enter the “race” for $10 per person ($35 for large families) and we’ll provide you with enough fluids and carbs to get you to the finish line! The Vikings will be back again this year to cause chaos along the route! The Dash for Donuts is open to all ages and is a great way to have some silly fun as a family. For more info and how to purchase tickets, call the library at 422-9765.
